Nakibombo Phiona
My name is Nakibombo Phiona aged 24 years. Am number one of four children raised by a single mother due to the death of our father. I joined PPI in 2018 while in senior three at Kira secondary school when a team from Project princess came for a talk session about self- esteem at our school. I was among the girls who were touched by the session and we were requested to join them at the center for skills development. My goal was to stay in school and become an electrical engineer and therefore we were told to write personal stories about ourselves and family. A team from Project princess made a visit at my home in kiwologoma and found out that my story was true, they helped me get a sponsor who paid my school fees from senior three up to senior six. I started coming at their center for skills development from where we learnt so many skills like hair dressing, facial makeup among others but I decided to put more emphasis on making liquid soap which I now do as business to feed my family and get up keep. I now attend a technical college in Matugga pursing a diploma in electrical installation and engineering. I would like to thank my sponsor, Madam Fiona and the project at large for an opportunity to empower girls more so like me to achieve their dreams.

My name is Asianut blessing aged 19 years. I was at Kalinabiri primary school in my primary four when a team from project princess visited our school to speak to girls. My parents were struggling to make us stay in school due to financial crisis and project princess promised to help the vulnerable girls finish school. I wrote a story about my family background and a team visited my home to verify my statements, luckily enough, I was able to get a sponsor that happened to be a PPI board member who paid my fees up to primary seven. I performed extremely well that I won a scholarship from Namagunga girl’s school, during my stay at Namagunga, I went miles to score best grades that I retained my scholarship and my dream is to become cardiologist. I take this opportunity to thank Madam Fiona and my sponsor for having motherly hearts to keep girls in school. It’s their efforts that have lightened my future.

My name is Asio Mary Diana aged 23 years. I was at Kira secondary school in 2018 in senior two when a team from project princess came to our school to encourage girls stay in school. They said they help out with vulnerable girls and I was among those whose auntie struggled to raise fees for since I lost all my parents at a tender age. My dream was to be a lawyer and project princess through its board member paid my fees up to senior four. We were invited at their center for skills development and it’s from there that I leant how to make paper bags. During lockdown, my auntie lost her job and we saw the need to embrace the skills leant in making paper bags to sustain the family. Through that skill from PPI, I trained my auntie and sisters how to make paper bags and we sold them for money. This really boosted my confidence and morale that I could also buy myself pads and remain with up keep and therefore changing my dream to becoming a successful business lady. I am grateful to Project princess for having initiated a Girls empowerment program to keep us in school. With time, I wish to teach more girls this skill so that they can also earn and be successful. I thank my sponsor madam Camila for paying my fees generously and Madam Fiona with the project at large for supporting girls. May God reward you.
