PROJECT PRINCESS INITIATIVE (PPI)

School Outreaches

Project Princess Initiative was founded by Fiona .M. Kiggundu in 2009, with only one girl Rebecca Aketch. Rebecca at 12 years of age had ran away from an early marriage. Her parents had arranged for her to get married to a man three times her age. However, Becky still wanted to go school, she refused to settle for it and ran away, got on a bus and travelled 300 miles to Kampala the capital of Uganda to start a new life. While on the bus to the city, a curious traveler asked her where she was headed she shared her story. The stranger accepted to be a good Samaritan by taking Rebecca to her home to be a home maid. Later Becky asked her boss if she could join the nearby school. The good Samaritan accepted and Becky joined Kalinabiri primary school. When she has soon completing her primary education, the lady that kept her informed her that she was unable to pay her tuition for secondary school.
